our department
The District is home to the C.S. Hawley Chemical Company, more commonly known as Halfmoon Fire Rescue or HMFD. We are a progressive, all-volunteer department that strives to deliver the highest level of response to the residents of our District and neighboring communities.
Our Department is led by Chief Anthony Bonventre, Deputy Chief. Chuck Kuhns, and Assistant Chief. Chris McMahon. Each Chief has come into their position after many years of service, dedication, and extensive specialized training and a vast variety of professional backgrounds.
As our community continues to grow, so does the scope and complexity of our mission. Currently, we respond to approximately 800 fire, rescue, and EMS calls per year. By utilizing rigorous training, proven tactics and appropriate technology, Halfmoon Fire Rescue strives to provide professional and effective protection to more than 14 square miles and more than 20,000 residents and their families.
In addition to helping your neighbors, being a volunteer firefighter is an extremely rewarding experience.
